Welcome to yet another Travel by Bike Series-2 and this time, we will be covering the bike route in the South Western part of India from Mangalore to Goa by road trip.  😊😊

En route:- Udupi–Kundapur-Maravanthe Beach–Murudeshwar–Gokarna–Karwar–Goa.

Packing the Essentials:-  👖👕👓⌚

Ensure to pack these essentials before starting your bike journey.

·        A properly fitting and certified helmet for safety.

·        A Riding Jacket that protects against wind, dust, and potential road hazards.

·        Riding Pants that are comfortable and protective pants or riding jeans.

·        Riding Gloves to ensure a better grip and protect your hands.

·        Comfortable Riding Apparel that is Lightweight and breathable clothes for riding.

·        Extra Clothes, including shorts, t-shirts, and nightwear for your stay in Goa.

·        Swimwear, If you plan to enjoy the beaches in Goa.

·        Valid Driving Licence, Registration Documents, Personal Identification documents, and Passport in case of different National other than India.

·        Basic Tool Kit, Maps of GPS device, and some extra fuel. 

·        Safety and first aid kit.

·        Hydration and snacks/energy bars.

·        Personal essentials.

The Location:- Mangalore and Goa are located in the southwestern part of India along the Konkan coast. Both cities are situated in the state of Karnataka, with Mangalore being a major port city in the Dakshina Kannada district, and Goa being a separate state known for its beautiful beaches and Portuguese influence.

Distance:- Distance from Mangalore to Goa by road varies depending on the route taken. The most common route is via NH66, which is approximately 360 kilometers (224 miles) long. This route takes you through towns such as Udupi and Karwar before reaching Goa.

Please note that road distances can vary due to factors like road conditions, ongoing construction, and the specific starting and ending points within each city. It's always a good idea to consult a reliable map or navigation service for the most accurate and up-to-date information before starting your journey.

Make sure to carry a detailed map or use a reliable GPS system to navigate through the various towns and cities along the way.  When starting your bike trip from Mangalore to Goa, a convenient and popular starting point is Mangalore City Centre. This area offers easy access to major roads and is well-connected to other parts of the city. Here are some specific locations within Mangalore City Centre where you can begin your journey.  Remember driving in plains is different from driving in hills and this route is covered by plains all over.

Roughly 90 kilometers from Udupi, Kundapur is another suitable stopover option. This coastal town offers beautiful beaches like Kodi Bengre and Maravanthe, where you can relax and soak in the scenic beauty. Enjoy the coastal breeze and indulge in some seafood delicacies, as your intake in regular intervals is very essential during bike travel.

As you pass get along from Kondapur, you reach Maravanthe Beach, which is located about 110 kilometers from Mangalore, Maravanthe Beach is a stunning stretch of coastline where the Arabian Sea lies on one side, and the Souparnika River flows on the other side. The picturesque view of the beach and the river is a sight to be captured in your mind.  

Murudeshwar:- 👇👇

Situated around 160 kilometers from Mangalore, Murudeshwar is home to the second-tallest Shiva statue in the world, standing tall on a coastal hill. The beach town also boasts beautiful beaches and a serene temple complex.  

Gokarna:- 👇👇

As you head towards the West, you will reach Gokarna, located approximately 230 kilometers from Mangalore.  Gokarna is a popular pilgrimage site and a beach lover's paradise. The town is renowned for its ancient temples, pristine beaches like Om Beach and Kudle Beach, and a laid-back atmosphere.  Gokarna is considered a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. It is often referred to as the "Benares of the South" due to the presence of several ancient temples. The town is renowned for the Mahabaleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which attracts devotees from all over the country.  Gokarna has also gained popularity among backpackers and alternative travelers due to its laid-back and bohemian vibe. The town has a thriving hippie culture with several guesthouses, beach shacks, and cafes that cater to budget travelers.

Continuing southward, you'll reach the captivating town of Karwar. Nestled between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats, Karwar offers pristine beaches, lush greenery, and a relaxed coastal ambiance.
